FEDERAL GRANTS

IMUAS encourages students to apply for federal grants to help fund their education.

Pell Grant

Federal Pell Grants are awarded to undergraduate students who have not previously earned a bachelor's or a professional degree.

Award: The maximum Pell Grant award for the 2009-2010 award year (July 1, 2009, through June 20, 2010) is $5,350.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) program assists undergraduate students with an exceptional financial need. Pell Grant recipients with the lowest expected family contributions (EFCs) are the first individuals considered for a FSEOG.

Award: The FSEOG awards between $100 and $4,000 per year.

Academic Competitiveness Grant

To be eligible for the Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG), a student must:

  1. Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen
  2. Be a federal Pell Grant recipient
  3. Be enrolled at least half-time in a degree program
  4. Be a first- or second-year undergraduate student, or a student in a certificate program of at least one year at a two-year or four-year degree-granting institution
  5. Have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study and graduated after January 1, 2006, if a first-year student, or after January 1, 2005, if a second-year student

Award: The ACG awards $750 for the first year of study and $1,300 for the second year.
