Announcement of the New 2012 Series GEDŽ Tests
The GED Testing Service will be modifying their tests and implementing an updated
series beginning January 1, 2012.
(Non English-language editions are anticipated to be released on January 1, 2013).
Please make sure that you have completed all of your GED exams with passing scores prior to December 31, 2011.

All GED examinees should be advised that scores earned on the current 2002 series or
previous tests will not be able to be combined with those earned on the new 2012 Series
GED Tests. By December 31, 2011, examinees must have taken and earned minimum scores on

The GED test consists of five parts.
- Part 1. Writing skills - This includes the elements of Standard English, sentence structure, and the parts of speech. A composition of approximately 250 words is also required.
- Part 2. Mathematics - This includes basic arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and geometry.
- Part 3. Science - This includes life sciences such as biology and physical sciences such as physics, chemistry, astronomy, and earth science.
- Part 4. Interpreting Literature and the Arts - This includes popular literature, classical literature, and commentary on literature and the fine arts.
- Part 5. Social Studies - This includes Behavioral Science, History, Political Science, Economics, and Geography.
